2001 Aurora On May 28 2000, the 2001 Aurora served as the official pace car for the 84th running of the Indy 500. A unique graphics treatment with a checkered flag motif adorned the exterior. The pace car was powered by the 4.0L Aurora V8 and outfitted with IRL-required safety equipment such as strobe lights, seat harnesses, and a roll bar. The car was driven by E.R. star Anthony Edwards. There were no replicas built.
