Whats new for 89: A new grille consisting of six openings on each side of the center divider is the major visual change. Three-point rear seatbelts are standard on all models. The options list has been expanded with the addition of a driver's side airbag, Anti-lock brakes and steering wheel touch controls, which are not available with the airbag. |

Biggest News: Available driver's side airbag is new, but not the first time it's been offered on the Ninety-Eight. Airbags became available for '74 and were dropped after '76 due to slow sales. |

Identifying an 89: 1989 Ninety-Eights are visually identical to the '90s. The grille consists of six openings on each side of the center divider. Similar to 1981, which was of course another bodystyle. | ||
