Whats new for 1977:|
The downsizing of the B and C-Body cars left the Toronado as the largest car in Oldsmobile's lineup. The 455 V8 was gone, replaced by a more efficient 403 V8. Styling was updated with quad parking lamps under the headlamps similar to the new full size models. Toronado emblems in the front fender tips lit up when the exterior lights were on. All models became Broughams and included a standard split bench front seat. A limited edition XS model with a hot wire bent rear window and power sunroof was offered. The XSR model shown above with its power t-tops was never made available for sale, and was strictly a one of a kind.

|Identifying a '77:|
The '77 Toronado differed from the 1978 model in the grille area. Where the '77 model had a crosshatch pattern, the '78 design was made up of horizontal openings.
