Whats new for 1974:|
Like other full-sized '74 Oldsmobiles, Toronados received a new instument panel design, with larger glove compartment, individually adjustable air conditioning vents, and a standard digital clock. Brougham interiors could be ordered with a rich new velour upholstry, and all models had new one piece front seat/shoulder belts. The biggest news, was the availability of a new air cushion restraint system, or dual airbags as they are now known. Changes weren't limited to the interior, outside there was a new Toronado exclusive hood ornament. A new power sunroof and a padded opera roof became available.

|Identifying a '74:|
1973 and 1974 Toronados appear very similar, and differ only in details. The 1973 had a reflector strip between the backup lamps, which was replaced by a silver strip for 1974. 1974 models also had TORONADO spelled out in block letters stretched out to the full width of the grille, while 1973 models had a more compact emblem above the grille on the driver's side.
